He also acts as external consultant and external examiner for other\u00a0universities, and\u00a0was appointed to the QAA panel to write the subject benchmarks for Education Studies in 2024-25. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and a member of the Executive Committee of\u00a0TIESA (The\u00a0International\u00a0Education Studies Association), for which he acts as\u00a0Managing Editor for TIESA journals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"fade-in-up\">He is on the Board of Reviewers for the journals:\u00a0<em>Pastoral Care in Education<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Educational Futures<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Vulnerable Children and Youth Studies<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>Transformations<\/em>,\u00a0sits on the International Advisory Board for the Spanish education journal\u00a0<em>Magister<\/em>,\u00a0and is currently co-editor of\u00a0<em>Educational Futures<\/em>.\u00a0He\u00a0is\u00a0currently\u00a0joint lead on the Education Unit of Assessment for the\u00a0REF, and\u00a0leads the\u00a0Educational and Childhood Research Centre.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cover alignfull is-light\"><span aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-cover__background has-sky-blue-background-color has-background-dim-100 has-background-dim\"><\/span><div class=\"wp-block-cover__inner-container has-global-padding is-layout-constrained wp-block-cover-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"profile\">Profile<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"research-interests\">Research Interests<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Stephen\u2019s research interests include E-Learning, web 2.0 tools, social media, and the use of multimedia in learning and teaching, particularly in the associated affordances for social constructivist styles of learning, as well as the critique of dominant discourses concerning students\u2019 digital literacies. In 2017 he successfully completed his doctoral research into the use of digital audio (mp3) for feedback purposes, an area in which he has also been involved in national research projects, such as TALENT (2000-2002) and Sounds Good (2008-2009).
