She has taught at the University of Birmingham, the Open University and the University of Liverpool and has been at the History department at Newman for 12 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She has edited or co-edited two volumes, Imagining the Afterlife in the Ancient World (Routledge 2019) and Memory and Urban Religion in the Ancient World (Bloomsbury, 2012). Her monograph, Dreams and Dreaming in the Ancient World: Cultural Memory and Imagination was published by Bloomsbury in 2013. She has co-organised three successful international conferences (\u2018Imagines VII \u2013 Playful Classics\u2019, University of G\u00f6ttingen, 2021, \u2018Imagining the Afterlife in the Ancient World\u2019, Newman University and the University of Birmingham, 2016, and \u2018Cultural Memory and religion in the ancient city\u2019, University of Birmingham, 2010).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She is a member of the Classical Association and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Historical Fictions. She is External Examiner for History for Wrexham Glyndwr University. She is currently supervising two PhD students at Newman, working on the Greek New Testament, and on Near Death Experiences in the ancient world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:0px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cover alignfull is-light\"><span aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-cover__background has-sky-blue-background-color has-background-dim-100 has-background-dim\"><\/span><div class=\"wp-block-cover__inner-container has-global-padding is-layout-constrained wp-block-cover-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"profile\">Profile<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"research-interests\">Research Interests<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Juliette\u2019s primary research interests lie in the reception of the ancient world in modern popular culture, and in myth, folklore and religion in the Roman world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She is currently working on a project on the reception of the ancient world in the works of Terry Pratchett with Martin Lindner, University of G\u00f6ttingen, and on an edited volume on Playful Classics with Martin Lindner and Luis Unceta G\u00f2mez, University of Madrid (forthcoming from Bloomsbury in 2024).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She is also working on ancient ghost stories, and shares this research on her podcast Creepy Classics. She is currently supervising two PhD students, one working on the Greek New Testament, and the other on Near Death Experiences in the ancient world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"teaching\">Teaching<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Juliette is co-Programme Lead for History at Newman. She teaches all classes relating to the ancient world, contributing to team taught modules at Levels 4 and 5, and teaching a specialist module on ancient myth and religion at Level 6. She supervises dissertations in ancient history, history in popular culture, and creative writing. She also teaches on the Applied Writing and Drama programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"administrative-responsibilities\">Administrative Responsibilities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Juliette is co-Programme Lead for History.
