Pre-induction activities

Before teaching begins, students are encouraged to complete a short set of pre-arrival tasks to help them feel prepared for their first semester. These activities introduce core ideas from your modules and support your transition into university study.

Pre-arrival activity: Complete a short reflection (150–200 words) on “What skills do I want to develop during my first year at university, and why?”

This will support your first sessions in the Personal Development for Managers and Entrepreneurs module.

Recommended pre-arrival reading/viewing:

  1. Introduction to Management: “What Is Management?” – a short overview (YouTube, TED or BBC Work life style content).
  2. Principles of Marketing: Watch an introductory video on the basics of marketing (e.g., the 4Ps).
  3. Organisational Behaviour & HRM: Read a short article on workplace motivation or organisational culture.
  4. Accounting & Finance: Review a beginner-friendly guide on understanding financial statements.

These activities are not assessed but will help you engage confidently with your modules from the very first week.
