Birmingham Newman University is seeking an ambitious, driven, and values-led Lecturer in Learning and Teaching to contribute to the delivery and ongoing development of the University’s Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE).
Working closely with the Head of Learning, Teaching and Assessment, this role has a significant cross-institutional remit and offers an exciting opportunity to influence pedagogical innovation and academic practice across the University.
The successful candidate will design and facilitate engaging, research-informed postgraduate learning experiences and support academic staff in developing inclusive, reflective, and evidence-informed approaches to teaching, assessment, and curriculum design. The role includes contributing to online and blended learning, supporting Advance HE Fellowship applications, participating in quality assurance processes, and engaging in scholarship related to higher education pedagogy.
Essential criteria include
- A doctoral qualification (PhD).
- Fellowship of Advance HE (FHEA or above).
- A postgraduate qualification in Higher Education or a recognised equivalent in academic practice.
- Experience of teaching and assessing at postgraduate level within UK higher education.
- Demonstrable knowledge of the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF) and Advance HE accreditation processes.
- Experience of online and blended learning design and delivery.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to facilitate reflective and critical dialogue.
- A commitment to student-centred higher education and a scholarly, reflective approach to practice.
