Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Allied Health (Occupational Therapy)(Post Ref: NU5226)

The School of Nursing and Allied Health (SoNAH) at Birmingham Newman University is seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Allied Health (Occupational Therapy) to join our expanding academic team.

As our BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy programme progresses into its third year of delivery, we are expanding our Occupational Therapy team to support continued programme growth, maintain our commitment to an outstanding student experience, and contribute to the ongoing development of an ambitious and innovative Allied Health portfolio. The successful post holder will play a key role in the development, delivery and enhancement of Occupational Therapy education, helping to prepare the next generation of Occupational Therapists through high-quality teaching, simulation, practice learning support and academic leadership.

We are seeking either an existing Occupational Therapy academic or an experienced Occupational Therapist interested in developing a career within higher education. Successful candidates will contribute to teaching, assessment, simulation-based education, academic support, curriculum development, recruitment activity, practice learning partnerships and quality enhancement. The role will include supporting students both on campus and within practice learning environments whilst working collaboratively with colleagues across Occupational Therapy, Nursing and other Allied Health programmes.

Applicants should hold a recognised Occupational Therapy qualification and current HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist. Membership of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) is required, together with a commitment to maintaining professional registration and continuing professional development. Candidates should demonstrate contemporary knowledge of Occupational Therapy practice and a commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment where diversity is celebrated and all students are supported to achieve their potential. Applicants will also need to demonstrate either a recognised teaching qualification, HEA Fellowship, or a willingness to work towards an appropriate teaching qualification.

For Senior Lecturer appointments, applicants should additionally demonstrate evidence of postgraduate study together with experience of educational leadership, curriculum development, module leadership, practice leadership, or other relevant leadership responsibilities within healthcare or higher education settings.
