Biography
Dr Bill Naylor is a registered psychotherapist with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society. He is also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Currently he works as Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Counselling, Mental Health and Wellbeing Programme at Birmingham Newman University.
He is currently appointed as an external examiner for ICHAS – Irish College of Humanities and Applied Sciences where he oversees their extensive portfolio of Master’s provision for counselling and psychotherapy.
Since 2011 Bill has had extensive experience in undertaking expert external panel member duties in the validation of numerous counselling and psychotherapy programmes in, HE institutions at both UG and PG level in the UK and Europe.
In 2013 he was honoured to be recognised with the Inspirational Teaching Award for his department at Sheffield Hallam University.
Bill has been the first and second supervisor for several PhD students as well as being an external examiner for PhD ‘Vivas’.
With over 30 years of practice as a psychotherapist Bill has worked in a variety of setting and these include: hospitals, education, the voluntary sector and private practice.

Research interests
Current and recent research interests based on identifiable individual or collaborative research projects, including supervised doctoral research projects. Also, research grants from UK research councils, European research funds and charities may be included.
Teaching
Delivering teaching and assessment for Counselling and Psychotherapy training – theory, skills practice and working with mental health and wellbeing.
Supervision of research dissertations on the undergraduate and postgraduate Counselling and Psychotherapy programmes.
