Biography

Kevin McLaughlin is a Senior Lecturer in Primary Initial Teacher Education at Newman University, Birmingham.

He holds a BA (Hons) in Primary Education, an MA in Education, and professional qualifications including NPQSL and HEA Fellowship. Kevin has over 20 years’ experience in education, including senior leadership roles in schools and as Deputy Director at a Teaching School Hub.

His research interests include digital pedagogy and art education, and he has contributed to projects in Europe and Asia. He is a regular speaker at national ResearchED conferences and has been recognised as an Apple Distinguished Educator, Google Certified Teacher, and winner of the ALT Learning Technologist of the Year Award.

Kevin McLaughlin teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate Primary ITE programmes at Newman University, focusing on developing high-quality classroom practice and reflective pedagogy.

Kevin supports trainees in understanding inclusive teaching strategies, effective assessment, and the integration of technology to enhance learning.
