Full details of your individual academic timetable, including Semester 2 timetable which may differ, will be available via your university email calendar after you have completed the pre-arrival task online and set up your student login.

Applied Humanities is a dynamic, supportive, and highly interactive programme designed to help you grow personally, professionally, and academically.

Throughout your studies, you’ll explore real-world issues, develop confidence in your abilities, and build a toolkit of skills that will support you long after graduation. We take a practical, student-centred approach, offering a blend of learning experiences that allow you to apply ideas, reflect on your development, and work closely with tutors and your peers.

How Your Module Will Be Taught

Applied Humanities is taught through four integrated strands designed to support your learning:

1. In-person classes: You will attend on-campus sessions two days a week. These workshops are interactive and focused on applying ideas to real and relevant contexts. If you are unable to attend, please inform us by contacting applied-humanities@newman.ac.uk.
2. Online assessment guides: Each month in your first module, you will receive a clear, step-by-step assessment guide to help you understand expectations, plan your work, and stay on track.
3. Online skills guides: These short, practical resources are available any time and are designed to help you strengthen your personal, professional, and academic skills as and when you need them.
4. Academic Life Coaching: Throughout your studies you will be asked to book one-to-one coaching appointments. These sessions support your growth across personal, professional, and academic areas.
