Understanding Clearing

Clearing is an opportunity for students to secure a place at university if their initial plans don’t unfold as expected. It’s not a setback; rather, it’s a whole new world of possibilities.

Be a Calming Presence

Clearing can make students feel a bit stressed or uncertain. This is where you come in!

Your calm and steady support can be the anchor they need. Keep the conversation flowing and remind them that it’s okay to feel a bit unsure—it’s all part of the journey.

Research Together

Dive into the UCAS website or check out Birmingham Newman University courses together.

Explore available courses, entry requirements, and campus facilities. Your guidance and perspective can help them make informed decisions.

Encourage Proactivity

Give them a gentle nudge to be proactive!

Encourage them to pick up the phone and speak to admissions teams.

Offer to role-play conversations to help them feel more confident.

Stay Informed

Keep an eye on key deadlines and any updates in the Clearing process.

Stay connected with their progress and offer gentle reminders when needed.

Manage Expectations

While we hope for a smooth journey, it’s essential to prepare for all outcomes.

Help them think about alternative options and reassure them that success has many different paths.

Celebrate Every Step

Whether it’s securing a place at their dream university or embracing an unexpected opportunity, celebrate their achievements along the way.

Your constant support means the world to them.
