Recent developments
In 2025, the University successfully secured £2.2m funding from the Office for Students, enabling Birmingham Newman to transform the University’s existing estate to deliver cutting-edge facilities that meet the growing demand for healthcare and digital skills. This has included a new Digital Learning Hub, a virtual ward and an improved computer and health science lab. This work is due for completion in summer 2026.
In 2024, we oversaw the demolition of the Edgbaston Halls building, one of the original accommodation blocks on campus, dating back to the 1960s. The demolition has received approval from Birmingham City Council and began in June 2024. This area has now been landscaped, with plans for potential new buildings in the future.
Following the demolition of Edgbaston Halls, remedial works on Littlemore Halls were completed before landscaping work on the Ryland Quad began in the summer of 2024, with the Quad opening on 3 February 2025.
